Acupuncture FAQ
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an effective form of health care that has evolved over 2,500 years to become a completely natural and holistic medical system. The modality of acupuncture involves insertion of extremely fine needles into the skin to activate specific acu-points on the body. This activates and enhances the body's natural healing ability restoring systemically the physical and emotional health of the person.
Is acupuncture safe? Acupuncture is extremely safe, virtually painless and an effective way to treat many of
today's health disorders.
Does acupuncture hurt? Virtually painless! This is a topic of conversation that varies person to person much like many things in life. The sensation from the needle insertion felt by patients can be a slight pinch, but most people feel no pain at all. Remember that acupuncture needles are about as tiny as a human hair. You could fit 10 or more acupuncture needles inside the barrel of a hypodermic needle used to draw blood by nurses.
Will my insurance cover acupuncture treatment? I will start by saying that insurance coverage varies from state to state and from insurance plan to insurance plan but our office accepts most PPO plans. At our office, our staff will be more than happy to verify your coverage and explain to you all of the insurance benefits available to you on your plan.
How much does it cost? Seeing an acupuncturist and traditional Chinese medical practitioner is much like seeing any other medical physician. Rates vary depending upon what services are performed. Especially during these tough economic times, we understand how hard it is for people to afford high quality health care. That is why at FLOW we are committed to working with you no matter what your budget for medical cost allows.
