My Story with the Danzan Arts
I began my teachings of the Dao or the Way 16 years ago as a young boy. I fell in love with how dynamic and encompassing the art was even at the age of 10. I knew that it was different than most other systems out there at the time. We spent equal portions of the class stretching, learning how to move correctly in our bodies and training with each other in self-defense arts.
As I got older my sensei began to teach me the "healing" ways of our art. In the teachings it was said that if you were going to be able to harm someone then you had better be willing to help that person out afterwards. This was ground-breaking in my mind for a martial art.
I began learning restorative techniques to help both my own body and spirit as well as those of my fellow man. This ultimately led me down the path towards acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine as well as other holistic health approaches.
Now all these years later I can firmly say that I wouldn't be where I am today without the teachings and lessons of the Danzan Arts.
